Me and My Older Sister

A sister is both your mirror and your opposite- Elizabeth Fishel

I never thought a quote would mean so much to me until I found this one. I had to do an essay in English where we had to find quotes that mean something to us. I had some in mind but I wanted to look up some more and that’s when I ran across this one. It struck a chord with me, I never realized what this meant to me until you look back at my life. And so It Begins in Middle School.
I love my sister don’t get it wrong. Well, lately we haven’t had that good of a Time. (I feel alone) but we used to be close I used to look up to her she was everything I wanted to be until I realize I couldn’t. She was a smart one she can read a whole book a giant book in a day she got all straight A’s she was that perfect child and then there was me. I sucked at school my dyslexia stopped me from being able to be smart. It took me months to get one chapter book done. And I just wasn’t that good of a kid. Growing up I would always get compared to my sister they always say you’re going to be as good as her one day she does this better than you. And stuff like that. And Middle School I would get compared to her all the time. To the point, they would think I was her I was her twin or that I was related to her. We would get the same teacher sometimes and they always call me Sarah by accident or they would say oh your sister did really good on this and maybe you’ll get good at it someday stuff like that and it got under my skin because I’m nothing like my sister but yet at the same time I’m so much like her. We both can’t handle stress well, we both like to be in charge, we both did this dumb thing where we instantly turn Spanish when we are beyond mad at someone. I get that from my dad who’s Cuban. And that we were similar in ways but she’s also my opposite because I’m not her I think differently do differently act differently.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post I’ve been sitting on this for a while because like I said I love this quote and it means so much to me and I kind of wanted to talk about it and what it means to me personally. Let me know in the comments down below is there a quote that represents your life that you love? As always guys I love you so much, thank you for everything you do, and I’ll see you in the next post!

Xoxo, Allie
